We Need Your Help

Interested in supporting your community in unique ways? We have a couple of suggestions for the brave at heart….

TOUR GUIDES / "GREETERS" NEEDED

This will be an exciting year for Avon Historical Society. For the first time ever we will have three historic properties open on Sundays from 2 – 4pm, June through September.

No experience is necessary to be a Tour Guide. You will be provided with an instruction brochure, which includes background information about Avon Historical Society and the building in which you are docenting. If you would prefer, we can pair you up with an experienced Guide.

Having served several sessions myself, it is an enjoyable way to spend two hours on a Sunday, and it ensures the Society’s ability to keep our history alive while getting to know the many interesting people who visit.

If you would like to volunteer, please call Ben Isaacson at 860-678-1160, Ruth Woodford at 860-676-0544, or call and leave a message on our main phone line at 860-678-7621. If so inclined, feel free to send us an email at AHS.mail.1830@sbcglobal.net to volunteer.

GARDENERS NEEDED

Our Garden Maven, Lesley Mancini, has plans for the enhancement of the gardens at the Living Museum and the creation of a period garden at the Derrin House.

If you feel that this could be a way to help beautify our local landscape, Lesley needs your help!

You do not need any gardening experience to help with the planting and maintenance of these gardens. Just bring a pair of gardening gloves, a shovel, a trowel and your enthusiasm!

If you would like to help in the design and development of what will be an interesting year for these garden landscapes, please call Lesley at 860-404-0719, or send her an email at Lesley.mancini@comcast.net .
